Invoice finance
Invoice finance lets a business draw cash against invoices it has raised but not yet been paid for, so growth isn't held back by customer payment terms. Facilities range from confidential invoice discounting to full factoring with credit control. The right one depends on your ledger, so Atlas reviews that first.
What it's used for
- Funding growth when customers pay on 30 to 90 day terms
- Smoothing cash flow through seasonal peaks
- Replacing an overdraft with a facility that grows with sales
- Funding a management buy-out or acquisition alongside other debt
What lenders look at
- Who your customers (debtors) are and how concentrated the ledger is
- Payment history, credit notes and disputes
- Contract terms, especially stage payments or retentions
- Your financial track record and management information
- Any existing security or charges over the business
What you'll need to send
You don't need everything on day one. Start with what you have; Atlas tells you what's missing as the deal is underwritten.
- Aged debtor and creditor reports
- Recent management accounts and the last filed accounts
- Sample invoices and customer contracts
- Details of existing borrowing and charges
- Company and director details
How Atlas handles it
- Describe the deal. In your own words, online or on WhatsApp. Rough figures are fine.
- We underwrite it. Atlas checks the figures, asks the questions lenders will ask, and builds a complete pack.
- We match it. Your deal goes to the lenders on our panel whose criteria it fits, not to everyone.
- You compare terms. Lenders respond on the platform, and we help you through to completion.
Have a invoice finance deal? Start it on Atlas in a few minutes. Introducers and brokers can submit on behalf of clients.
Start a dealCommon questions
What's the difference between factoring and invoice discounting?
With factoring the provider usually runs your credit control and your customers know about the facility. With invoice discounting you keep collecting your own debts and the facility is often confidential.
How much of an invoice can be advanced?
Providers typically advance a percentage of each approved invoice, with the rest paid when your customer pays, less fees. The percentage depends on your ledger quality.
Can construction or contract businesses use it?
Some providers specialise in contract and construction ledgers with stage payments. Atlas matches on that detail rather than sending you to everyone.
